SoCal Cup, The Showcase boys volleyball was a thrilling three-day national event that took place at the iconic Los Angeles Convention Center at LA Live. From the 13 Open to the 15 Open divisions, every match showcased the passion and potential of these growing athletes.
Here’s a recap of the standout performances that defined the weekend.
MB Surf 13’s 1 ASICS (pictured above) kicked things off with a run that blended strong fundamentals with great potential. Their desire to win this event out-shined the competition. Armyn Grant walked away with MVP honors, as MB Surf, one of the top clubs in California marched through a competitive 13 Open pool.
Bay to Bay 14-Premier (Picture below), one of Northern California’s best volleyball clubs, brought their A-game to this year’s Showcase event. As the #1 seed, they dominated with a perfect 9-0 record, winning every match. Middle blocker Ryder Yuan was named MVP for his outstanding performance on the court.
Team Rockstar 14 Rockstar (Picture Below) faced a tough challenge early on against SC Legends 14 Elite, one of the top teams at The Showcase. Despite the early loss, they bounced back with determination, meeting SC Legends again in the championship round. The thrilling three-set match ended with Team Rockstar claiming the title. Outside Hitter Hudson Barker, named MVP, was a powerhouse all weekend, igniting the team.
SD Beach 15GONZO (Picture below) faced a tough Saturday at The Showcase, stumbling against Academy Boys 15. But on Sunday, they found their groove, powering through five straight wins to claim the 15 Club Division title. Showing heart, the team overcame adversity to stand tall on the podium. Julian Townsend, Libero for the team was named MVP.
Team Rockstar 15 Rockstar (picture below) lived up to their #1 seed at The Showcase, proving they’re the best in the 15 Open Division. With an incredible 9-0 sweep all weekend, they crushed every match. Outside Hitter Logan Flores, named MVP, led the charge, sparking the offense and guiding his team to victory. This win was a bold statement from Team Rockstar 15 Rockstar as they head to AAU Nationals.
